“Thamma” Trailer Released: Ayushmann Khurrana Shines as a Unique Vampire
Maddock Films has released the highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming horror-comedy “Thamma,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The film is a blend of supernatural thriller and comedy, and promises to release in theaters on October 21st during Diwali.
A New Take on the Vampire Story
“Thamma” introduces audiences to Yakshsan, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He is a vampire from a group called the Betaals, traditionally tasked with protecting humanity rather than preying on it. However, under Yakshsan’s influence, the Betaals begin to rebel, reneging on their original oath and instead craving human blood.
Ayushmann as Alok: An unlikely vampire
Ayushmann Khurrana transforms into Alok, a clueless man who discovers he has become a vampire. His journey is filled with humorous moments, including realizing he has lost his teeth and his heartbeat. Alok’s struggles, including losing the taste of his beloved rajma chawal, add a relatable and humorous twist.
The cast adds to the charisma
Alok is joined by Tadka, another vampire who soon becomes his lover. His adventures are further complicated by her nosy parents, played by Paresh Rawal and Geeta Agarwal Sharma. Together, they face the challenges posed by Yakshasan, who is the central focus of the film’s story.
A festive release with star power
Ayushmann calls “Thamma” the biggest release of his career, which coincides with his personal tradition of watching festival films during Diwali. He expressed his excitement about this film as an opportunity to bring families together, promising laughter and joy for audiences across the country.
Building a Horror Comedy Universe
The trailer also features glimpses of the wolf played by Varun Dhawan, connecting “Thamma” to the newly named Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Elvis Karim Prabhakar (whom Sathyaraj played in “Munjya”) also expands this unique cinematic universe. Faisal Khan, known for his role as Prahlad Cha in “Panchayat,” further adds to the cast.
The Creative Team Behind “Thamma”
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for “Munjya,” the film’s screenplay is a collaborative effort by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Phalara. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the film continues Maddock Films’ legacy of blending horror and comedy.
