War 2
Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR’s highly anticipated action film, War 2, is set to hit theaters on Thursday, August 14. While the film has generated significant buzz, its advance booking figures are showing a mixed response, with some reports suggesting a slow start while others paint a more positive picture.
War 2 Advance Booking
According to various trade trackers, the film’s advance booking for its Hindi version initially saw a lukewarm response. Reports from earlier in the week indicated that in the US, paid previews were struggling, with YRF releasing the Hindi version in 900 US screens. As of last Sunday, only about 1,600 tickets had been sold, leaving many auditoriums almost empty.
However, the tide seems to be turning as the film’s release date approaches. Hrithik Roshan took to social media on Sunday to announce that advance bookings were officially open in India. Following this, new figures from trade sources like Sacnilk.com show a more optimistic trend. As of Sunday evening, the film had already minted over ₹2 crore in advance bookings. Another report from Mint suggests the figure has crossed ₹4 crore.
The film’s performance in different languages also shows a varied trend. While the Hindi release is gaining momentum, the Telugu shows are reportedly less than expected, despite the film starring popular Telugu actor Jr. NTR. The film is set to have around 9000 shows in Hindi (across various formats like 2D, IMAX, DOLBY, and 4DX), with 100 for Tamil and 115 for Telugu. The Hindi version is expected to release in 5000 screens in India.
War 2, a limited release in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Pondicherry, will also be available in Telugu and Tamil languages. The film is directed by Ayan Mukherji and is part of the YRF Spy Universe. It brings back Hrithik Roshan as the rogue R&AW agent Kabir, who is now faced with a new villain played by Jr. NTR.
Details About War 2
The film, made on a budget of ₹400 crores, is being touted as the costliest Spy film in India and is expected to be one of the biggest openers of the year. It faces a potential clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which is also releasing around the same time. The high-octane actioner has garnered praise from Hrithik Roshan himself, who stated that working with Jr. NTR was a learning experience, calling the Telugu superstar a “one-take final-take star.”
