The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced C P Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the upcoming Vice-Presidential election. The announcement was made by BJP’s National President, J. P. Nadda, following a crucial meeting on Sunday.

The election for the Vice-President is scheduled for September 9th, and is taking place after the resignation of the current Vice-President, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Who is C P Radhakrishnan?

C. P. Radhakrishnan, whose full name is Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, was born on October 20, 1957. He is a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with over 40 years of political experience.

He is currently serving as the 24th Governor of Maharashtra. He also held the additional charge as the Governor of Telangana from July 2024. Prior to this, he served as the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024 and also had an additional charge as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from March 2024 to July 2024.

Radhakrishnan has been elected to the Lok Sabha twice from Coimbatore. He has also served as the former state president of the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
