Realme GT8
Realme has officially unveiled its latest flagship lineup, the GT8 series, in its home market, China. Consisting of the Realme GT8 and the top-tier Realme GT8 Pro, this new series represents a significant leap forward, featuring cutting-edge technology designed to deliver a professional-level experience in both gaming and photography. The company has confirmed that its India launch will take place soon.
Performance Powerhouse
At the heart of both devices is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, based on a 3nm process for exceptional performance and efficiency. It’s paired with Realme’s dedicated R1 graphics processor, designed to enable “Super Frame” and “Super Resolution” modes in over 100 games. To maintain optimal performance, these phones feature a massive 7000 mm² vapor cooling system, which is 30% larger than its predecessor, ensuring the device stays cool even during intense gaming sessions. This series offers configurations with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
A Striking Display
The GT8 series features a stunning 6.79-inch 2K “Sky Dome” OLED display from BOE. It boasts a fluid 144Hz refresh rate and an incredibly responsive 3200Hz touch sampling rate. Its most notable feature is its incredible peak brightness, reaching 7000 nits, and with a sustained “sunlight brightness” of 4000 nits, ensures excellent visibility even outdoors. For eye comfort, the display includes 2160Hz PWM dimming and a 1-nit ultra-dark mode.
Two different camera concepts
Realme has significantly differentiated both models in the camera department.
* Realme GT8 Pro: Developed in partnership with imaging specialist Ricoh, the GT8 Pro features a versatile triple-camera system inspired by the premium GR camera series. It features a 200MP Samsung HP5 periscope telephoto lens capable of 3x optical and 6x lossless zoom. It also features a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. For selfies, it has a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor.
* Realme GT8: The standard model features a capable setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens. The front camera is 16MP.
Both phones are equipped with advanced software features such as GR Mode, Snap Mode, Pro Nightscape, and Dolby Vision video recording support.
Unprecedented Battery and Charging
In a groundbreaking move, both the GT8 and GT8 Pro are equipped with a 7000mAh second-generation “Titan” battery. However, charging options vary:
* GT8 Pro: Supports 120W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The company claims it can charge up to 45% in just 10 minutes.
* GT8: Features 100W fast wired charging.
Realme assures long-lasting battery life of 1600 charging cycles.
Design and Connectivity
The GT8 series features a premium and attractive design with a slim metal frame (7.8mm) and a weight of approximately 190 grams. It is available in three unique finishes: white (frosted glass), blue (recycled leather), and green (paper texture). A unique feature is the customizable camera rings, which allow for personalization. These phones are designed to last, and come with impressive IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water protection.
Running Android 15 and Realme UI 6.0, the series is future-ready with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and 21 global 5G bands. A special “Sky Signal Chip S1” promises 25% better connectivity in areas with weak networks.
