Satish Shah Passes Away at 74
Veteran actor Satish Shah, known for his iconic roles in television shows like “Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai” and films like “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,” has passed away at the age of 74. The beloved actor, who was battling kidney failure, breathed his last on October 25th.
According to an official statement from the P.D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre, an emergency call was made from Mr. Shah’s residence when he fell unconscious. A medical team was immediately dispatched and life-saving measures, including CPR, were initiated in the ambulance. These efforts continued upon arrival at the hospital, but unfortunately, Mr. Shah could not be revived. The hospital statement remembered him as a “beloved artist” and praised his “remarkable contribution to Indian cinema and television.”
Sources close to the family, including “Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai” producer J.D. Majethia, revealed that Shah had been ill for some time. He had previously undergone a kidney transplant, but later developed an infection.
Described as “the end of an era in Indian entertainment,” Shah is being remembered for his unmatched comic timing and memorable characters. He left a legacy that will continue to inspire both actors and audiences.
The late actor’s funeral will take place on Sunday, October 26. Well-wishers will be able to pay their respects at his residence, “Gurukul,” in Kalanagar, Bandra (East), from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Afterward, his last rites will be performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, at 12 noon.
