iPhone 17 Pro Launched

New Delhi – Apple has officially taken the wraps off its much-awaited iPhone 17 series, which includes the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Although this new lineup boasts significant technological advancements across all areas, the Pro models are making headlines with record-breaking pricing in India and attractive new colours that have created a buzz online.

Price

The top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max is set to become the first iPhone to officially cross the ₹2 lakh barrier. The newly introduced 2TB storage variant is priced at a staggering ₹2,29,900. The lineup begins with the iPhone 17 Pro (256GB) at ₹1,34,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at ₹1,49,900 for the same storage, representing a significant price hike compared to previous generations.

Look and Colour

Beyond the price, the most debated feature is the new “Cosmic Orange” finish, available exclusively for the Pro and Pro Max models alongside traditional deep blue and silver options.

This bold, vibrant hue is a departure from the colour palette usually reserved for Apple’s Pro lineup. In India, the colour has instantly been compared to saffron, a colour deeply associated with cultural and spiritual significance. It has received mixed reactions, with some critics on social media calling it “disgusting”, while others have praised Apple for the “refreshing” and “conscious” colour choice, speculating that it could be a smart marketing move for the Indian market.

Features

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max feature the new A19 Pro chip, which Apple claims brings significant improvements in performance and power efficiency. The devices feature a new design with a brushed aluminum unibody and an integrated vapor chamber for better thermal management. This new design comes with a larger battery, promising “the best battery life ever in any iPhone”. Charging has also been improved, with 40W fast charging support that can charge the device up to 50% in just 20 minutes.

The camera system has also been given major changes. The Pro models now feature a three-camera system, with the main, ultra wide, and telephoto lenses all being 48MP fusion cameras. The telephoto lens is particularly notable, with a new tetraprism design with a 56% larger sensor. It delivers an impressive 8x optical-quality zoom, the longest zoom ever on any iPhone.  The front camera has been upgraded to an 18MP Center Stage sensor with a wider field of view and a new feature that allows simultaneous recording from both the front and rear cameras.

The Super Retina XDR display, available in 6.3-inch (Pro) and 6.9-inch (Pro Max) sizes, is now protected by Ceramic Shield 2 on both the front and back, providing three times better scratch resistance. The ProMotion display also offers a brighter maximum brightness of 3,000 nits.

For those eager to get their hands on these new devices, pre-orders begin on Friday, September 12 and they will be available in stores on Friday, September 19.
