Hero’s Big Bet: India’s First 125cc Bike With Cruise Control and Dual-Channel ABS Launched: Xtreme 125R
Hero MotoCorp has created a stir in the 125cc commuter motorcycle segment by launching a new top-end variant of its popular bike, the Hero Xtreme 125R. This new model brings several segment-first features to the Indian market, including dual-channel ABS and cruise control.
This new premium variant is priced at ₹1,04,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it approximately ₹9,000 more expensive than the existing single-channel ABS variant.
Performance and Engine Specifications
This new variant of the Hero Xtreme 125R is powered by the same powerful 124.7cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. This engine produces 11.39 PS of power at 8250 rpm and a peak torque of 10.5 Nm at 6000 rpm.
* Gearbox: 5-speed constant mesh gearbox
* Clutch: Wet multi-plate clutch
* Speed: The company claims that this bike can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
* Mileage: Its ARAI-certified mileage is 66 km/l, which can be achieved between 55 and 60 km/l in real-world conditions.
Segment-First Features
This bike is the first in its segment to feature high-end features for rider comfort and safety:
* Dual-channel ABS: This feature significantly reduces the risk of skidding. It controls braking on both the front and rear wheels, providing an excellent combination of speed and safety, especially for young and new riders.
 * Cruise Control: This is the first time a bike in the 125cc segment has been equipped with cruise control. This feature will make long-distance highway riding extremely comfortable and relaxing.
* 3 Riding Modes: The bike has three riding modes: Street, Road, and Off-Road, allowing you to adjust performance based on different terrains.
* Color TFT Display: The bike features a new color TFT digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. It also displays information such as turn-by-turn navigation, call, and SMS alerts.
* Ride-by-Wire Throttle: This technology ensures smooth throttle response.
Design, Hardware, and Braking
In terms of design, the bike looks as aggressive and muscular as before. It features an LED headlight, muscular tank, and split pillion grab rails, similar to the Xtreme 200S.
* New Colors: This top variant is available in three new colors – Black Pearl Red, Black Matte-Grey, and Black Leaf Green. New graphics give it an even more premium feel.
* Suspension: The bike features conventional telescopic forks at the front and a 7-step adjustable hydraulic monoshock at the rear.
* Braking: This new dual-channel ABS variant features a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear disc brake.
* Weight: The bike weighs 136 kg, making it easy to maneuver in city traffic.
This launch could give Hero MotoCorp a strong lead in the 125cc segment over bikes like the TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar N125, and Honda CB125.
