OpenAI officially Launched ChatGPT Go
In a strategic move to capture one of the world’s largest digital markets, OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT Go, an India-first subscription plan priced aggressively at ₹399 per month. This new tier is designed to make advanced AI features more accessible to a broader audience, bridging the gap between the free version and the more expensive ChatGPT Plus.
A key highlight of the launch is the inclusion of UPI payment support, a move that caters directly to the preferred payment method for millions of Indians and signals OpenAI’s commitment to localizing its services.
What’s Included in the Go Plan?
The ChatGPT Go plan offers a substantial upgrade over the free tier. According to an announcement by Nick Turley, VP and Head of ChatGPT, subscribers will receive significant boosts in usage limits and capabilities.

Here’s a breakdown of the key features:
* Enhanced Model Access: Users get extended access to OpenAI’s flagship model, GPT-5, with 10 times higher message limits.
* Creative and Analytical Power: The plan includes a 10x increase in image generations and file uploads, allowing users to create more and analyze larger documents or datasets.
* Advanced Tools: Subscribers gain extended access to advanced data analysis using tools like Python, along with the ability to build personalized AI tools through custom GPTs.
* Improved Conversations: The plan features a 2x longer memory, enabling more coherent and context-aware conversations.
Key Limitations to Note
While ChatGPT Go is a powerful and affordable option, it is positioned as a mid-tier offering and does not include all the features available in the higher-priced plans.
Users should be aware that the Go plan does not include:
* Access to legacy models like GPT-4o.
* Connectors for third-party integrations.
* Sora video creation tools.
* API usage, which continues to be billed separately.
These premium features remain exclusive to the higher-tier plans like ChatGPT Plus (₹1,999/month) and Pro (₹19,900/month).
How to Upgrade
Existing and new users can easily subscribe to the new plan. The process involves logging into their ChatGPT account, clicking on their profile icon, and selecting the “Upgrade Plan” -> “Try Go” option. Payments can be made via credit card or the newly added UPI option, with the flexibility of monthly billing and the ability to cancel at any time.
