Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Kingdom’ Arrives on Netflix

Kingdom releases on OTT

Just 25 days after its theatrical premiere, the highly anticipated spy thriller Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda, is now available for streaming on Netflix. The film, which features Deverakonda as a constable who becomes a detective, can be viewed in five different languages: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The Hindi version is titled ‘Samrajya’.

Directed by Gautham Tinnanuri, known for the film Jersey, Kingdom follows the journey of Suri, played by Vijay Deverakonda. Suri’s mission is to infiltrate Sri Lanka’s perilous landscape to locate his missing brother, Shiva (Satyadev). His quest becomes even more complex when he crosses paths with Murugan (Venkatesh), the heir of a powerful cartel. The movie also features Bhagyashree Borse as Dr. Madhu, a character who assists Suri and forms a romantic bond with him.

Despite its substantial production budget of Rs 130 crore, the film, produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, didn’t achieve the expected commercial success. A trade report from SaccNilc indicates that Kingdom had a total worldwide gross of Rs 82.02 crore, with Rs 60.79 crore from India and Rs 21.25 crore from international markets. Its theatrical run received a mixed reception from both critics and audiences, prompting speculation about whether its performance on the streaming platform will compensate for its underwhelming box office results.

The August 27, 2025, release date on Netflix is particularly meaningful for Vijay Deverakonda. It commemorates the eighth anniversary of his smash hit film Arjun Reddy and the third anniversary of his Bollywood debut with Liger.

Although many fans were hoping the OTT version would include a missing song, “Hrudayam Loopala,” and a carnival fight scene, these scenes were not part of the final streaming cut. The filmmakers have suggested that these deleted scenes might be released separately on platforms like YouTube in the future, but for now, viewers who were hoping to see them have been left disappointed.
