Netflix is charting a bold new course for its hit live-action series, One Piece, confirming not only the highly anticipated second season but also an early renewal for a third. The third season is already gearing up for production, with filming scheduled to commence in Cape Town, South Africa, later this year. The show’s creative team is also seeing a shift, as Ian Stokes, who was a co-executive producer on the first season, will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer for Season 3. Tracz, who served as co-showrunner for Season 2 alongside Matt Owens, will take the helm with Stokes after Owens’ departure.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see the Straw Hat Pirates back in action. The second season, which has been given the title “Into the Grand Line,” is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026. The official synopsis teases a thrilling new chapter, where Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his crew—Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar)—will finally enter the perilous and mystical Grand Line. There, they will face “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet,” as they navigate strange islands and battle powerful new enemies in their quest for the ultimate treasure.

In addition to the returning core cast, Season 2 will introduce a host of new and familiar faces from the manga. Among the newcomers are Charithra Chandran, Joe Manganiello, and Katey Sagal. Fans will also get their first glimpse of the popular character Tony Tony Chopper, who will be brought to life through a combination of voice and motion capture by Mikaela Hoover.

With production on Season 3 underway before Season 2 even airs, the move signals Netflix’s deep commitment to adapting Oda’s expansive story. The early renewal assures fans that the Straw Hat Pirates’ journey is far from over, offering a beacon of hope for what lies ahead on the treacherous seas of the Grand Line.
