Babar Azam
TAROUBA, Trinidad – Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam suffered a major setback in his form battle when he was dismissed for a three-ball duck in the second ODI against the West Indies on Sunday, August 10, 2025. This dismissal, his first in 31 ODI innings, further fuels concerns over his prolonged poor form.
Facing the pace bowling of Jayden Seales in the ninth over at the Brian Lara Stadium, Babar was badly run out by a delivery that reportedly hit his stumps. The fall of early wickets put Pakistan in a difficult position and the batsman’s woes continued.
Babar Azam Last Century

This latest failure has further extended Babar’s much-discussed century drought, which has now reached 71 innings across all international formats. His last century came in the form of a whirlwind 151 against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023. Since then, despite occasional good starts, including a 47 in the first ODI of this series, he has failed to convert that into a solid, match-winning score.
His dismissal for a duck immediately sparked a flood of reactions online, with fans and critics criticising his performance. His dismissal led to memes and jokes, with one fan joking that Babar “missed his century by 100 runs.” More serious criticism has also emerged, pointing to his inability to take advantage of the consistent support he has received from the team management throughout his career.
Babar’s early dismissal had a clear impact on the team’s innings. Pakistan struggled to build partnerships and by the time rain halted play, the score had reached 139/6 in 33.5 overs. Jaden Seales was the standout bowler for the hosts, taking 2 wickets for just 16 runs in his 6 overs.
As the series progresses, there will undoubtedly be more pressure on Babar Azam to break this prolonged poor form and regain the run-scoring ability that made him the mainstay of Pakistan’s batting lineup.
