Indian Squad For Asia Cup 2025
August 19, 2025 – India’s T20I squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 has been announced, with Suryakumar Yadav named captain and Shubman Gill appointed as his deputy. The tournament will be held in Dubai, with India kicking off their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on September 10.

Gill, who missed India’s last T20I assignment against England, makes a return to the squad and is one of three openers selected, alongside Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. Notably, there is no place in the 15-member squad for Yashasvi Jaiswal or Shreyas Iyer.
The full Indian squad is as follows:
* Suryakumar Yadav (c)
* Shubman Gill (vc)
* Sanju Samson
* Abhishek Sharma
* Tilak Varma
* Rinku Singh
* Hardik Pandya
* Shivam Dube
* Kuldeep Yadav
* Axar Patel
* Jitesh Sharma
* Harshit Rana
* Arshdeep Singh
* Varun CV
* Jasprit Bumrah
The standby players for the tournament are Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
India, the eight-time Asia Cup winners, will be looking to add another title to their name. The selection committee’s decision to name Gill as vice-captain signifies their faith in the young opener’s leadership qualities and his growing importance in the T20 format.
