Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line
Bengaluru, India – In a major boost to Bengaluru’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the much-awaited Yellow Line of Namma Metro. This new corridor will bring significant improvements in public transport, especially in the city’s emerging tech hubs and residential areas.

Importance of The Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line
The Yellow Line is 19 kilometres long and connects RV Road to Bommasandra, which previously took up to 90 minutes by road. With the new metro service, the travel time between these two places is expected to be reduced to just 35 minutes, a major relief for daily commuters. The line has 16 stations and connects major areas such as RV Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Silk Board, Electronic City, HSR Layout and Bommasandra.
A major benefit of the new line is to provide direct and faster connectivity to Electronic City, which is the headquarters of major IT companies such as Infosys, Wipro and Tech Mahindra. The development is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on major roads such as Bannerghatta Road, Hosur Road and Outer Ring Road and reduce dependence on private vehicles and office buses.
Connectivity with Other Metro Lines
The Yellow Line also offers crucial connectivity with other metro lines. An interchange with the Green Line is available at RV Road, and future plans include integration with the Blue Line at the Central Silk Board Junction, further improving east-west connectivity across the city.
While the inauguration is a significant milestone, some final stretches of the line require integration and testing. Full operations are expected to begin by early 2026.
Apart from the metro line, the Prime Minister also launched a new Vande Bharat Express service to boost inter-city travel and announced several road and infrastructure projects aimed at easing Bengaluru’s notorious traffic problems. The inauguration of the Yellow Line and other projects symbolises a strong commitment to enhance the city’s infrastructure and improve the quality of life of its residents.
