Tata Sierra to launch on November 25th: Learn all the details about price, engine, and features

Tata Motors is preparing to launch one of its most anticipated SUVs, the Tata Sierra, in the Indian market on November 25th. This iconic name was discontinued in 2003, and now, after 22 years, the SUV is making a comeback in a new, modern look. The company has also released a teaser of the production model.

It will initially be offered in ICE (petrol/diesel) versions, followed by the launch of an electric (EV) version.

Bold and Boxy Design

The exterior design of the new Sierra is inspired by the original 1990 model and the new Safari.

* Front: Similar to Tata’s existing SUVs (Harrier/Safari), it features connected LED DRLs, a wide grille, and headlamps integrated into the bumper.

* Side: Its side profile is boxy.  Its most distinctive feature is its ‘Alpine Window’ design, reminiscent of the original Sierra. However, the new Sierra will be a four-door car. It will feature flush door handles and stylish dual-tone alloy wheels.

* Rear: While the rear is simple, it features LED tail lamps spanning the entire width of the car. The bumper is given a striking look with a glossy black finish and a silver skid plate.

Interior: Tata’s first triple-screen car

The Sierra’s cabin will be completely different from existing Tata cars and will be extremely premium. This will be Tata’s first car to feature a ‘triple screen setup’.

* Dashboard: It will feature an infotainment screen, a digital driver display, and a third dedicated passenger entertainment screen. This entire setup is integrated into a single panel that spans the entire width of the dashboard.

* Other features: The cabin features a white theme, ambient lighting, slim AC vents, and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo.

* Premium Features: It is expected to feature features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charger, powered front seats (with ventilation), and a JBL sound system.

Engine and Transmission

Technical specifications have not yet been officially revealed, but reports suggest it may come with two engine options:

* 1.5-liter T-GDI turbo-petrol: This engine produces 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. It will be available with a 6-speed manual (MT) and 7-speed DCT gearbox options.

* 1.5-liter diesel: This engine produces 118 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. It will be available with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission options.

Safety Features

In terms of safety, the Sierra will be a feature-loaded SUV. It will be equipped with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System).  Additionally, it could feature safety features like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Pricing and Competition

The Tata Sierra is expected to start at around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will compete directly with powerful SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and MG Astor.
